The age everyone says there's nothing for
Ask a parent of a 14 year old and they'll tell you the options run out. They don't. There's more listed for teenagers in Geneva than for any other age group, it's just quieter about itself.

It's music and sport, mostly
315 of the 636 are music and 189 are sport. Between them that's most of what exists for this age.
Music at this stage is ensembles, orchestras, jazz and rock groups rather than beginner lessons, and it takes people who have never played before. Sport is where martial arts and climbing sit, both of which suit a teenager who has gone off team games.
Then arts with 65 and dance with 35.
Starting from scratch at 14 is normal
The assumption that it's too late is the thing that stops most teenagers. It isn't true of any of the categories above. Guitar, climbing, drama and Brazilian jiu-jitsu all take complete beginners at this age, and a room of other beginners is easier at 14 than at eight.
Somewhere of their own
Geneva's municipal youth centres run free drop-in spaces for exactly this age, and we are adding them to the list as fast as we can reach them. If you run one, tell us and we will list it.
In the meantime, the clubs above take teenagers at every level, and several run taster sessions at the start of term.
Where
Genève has 329, then Lancy with 42, Thônex 27 and Petit-Lancy 19. 36 communes in all, the widest spread of any group, which matters when they're travelling alone.
