135 of the 360 are one-off events and another 28 are single workshops. Nearly half the category is something you can do on one Saturday and never again.
That matters if your child is undecided, or if you have been burnt by paying for a term they abandoned in week three.
The most free of anything
78 arts activities cost nothing at all, which is more than every other category combined. Museum workshops, municipal ateliers, open days.
If money is the deciding factor, this is where to look first, and Carouge is unusually generous for its size.
Theatre, then everything else
Theatre and drama is the single biggest group by some distance. Then crafts, circus, ceramics and pottery, and film and animation.
Circus deserves a mention because parents rarely think to search for it, and it suits a child who would rather move than sit.
After that it thins into specialisms: cooking and baking, drawing, painting, photography, magic, knitting and sewing.
It takes the youngest children
34 arts activities take a child under four, which is more than any category except sport. Messy play and parent-and-child craft mornings are the usual entry point, and they start earlier than anything musical.
Where
Genève has 218, but the spread beyond the city is the best of any category except sport. Carouge has 25, Le Grand-Saconnex 23, Lancy 16. 19 communes in all.
