The dates, 2026 to 2027

Term started on Monday 17 August 2026, and the Jeûne genevois fell on Thursday 10 September. Autumn holidays run Monday 19 to Friday 23 October 2026. Christmas and New Year run Thursday 24 December 2026 to Friday 8 January 2027.

After that it is February, Monday 15 to Friday 19; Easter, Friday 26 March to Friday 9 April; the Ascension bridge on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 May; Whit Monday on 17 May; and then summer, Monday 5 July to Wednesday 25 August 2027.

The week most families get caught by

October is the one that arrives before anyone has planned for it, because it is only six weeks after the rentrée. We keep a separate page for that week with the camps that are actually running in it.

February is the second trap. It is a single week, it is in the middle of winter, and the ski camps that fill it are usually booked out by the end of January.

Most camps run a full working day

45 of the 75 camps we track run long enough to cover a working day, which is the number that actually matters if both parents work.

The rest are half days or shorter sessions, so read the hours before you build a week around one.

Where the camps are, and what they do

Sport is the largest group with 34 camps, then the arts with 18, languages with 9 and science with 7 more.

They cluster: the city of Genève has 38 of the 75, then Le Grand-Saconnex with 10 and Versoix with 8 between them. Ecolint Camps is the single largest source of them, running 34 camps.

Ages, and what it costs

28 camps start between four and six, and 25 still take 13 and over, so a teenager is not automatically out of options. Only 11 take a child of three or under.

Free is rare here: 2 of the 75 camps cost nothing. Holiday cover is the most expensive thing on this site, and it is worth booking early rather than cheaply.

When do the October holidays start in Geneva?

Monday 19 October 2026, running to Friday 23 October. It is a single week, six weeks after the rentrée, and it catches families out every year.

When is the Jeûne genevois?

Thursday 10 September 2026. Schools are closed and so is most of the canton, and it is a Thursday rather than a Monday, which surprises people who have just moved here.

45 of the 75 camps we track run long enough to cover one, which is the figure worth checking if both parents work.

What holiday camps are there in Geneva?

Are any holiday camps free?

Barely. The count stands at 2 out of 75 camps, so holiday cover is the thing to budget for rather than hope for.
