Introduction to jazz for guitarists
This course explores the many facets of the jazz repertoire, through various pieces arranged for multiple guitars: swing, blues, bossa-nova, jazz-rock, modal jazz, etc. For each piece, students will be led to interpret the theme, accompany (chords), and take a solo (improvisation). Although the course uses sheet music, teaching also prioritizes oral transmission to encourage active listening and personal expression. Students are encouraged to play what they hear and feel, to develop a creative approach to jazz guitar. The shared joy of music is at the heart of this course, which aims to provide a friendly space to learn and express oneself freely.
