Five performers enter a medieval fresco: frozen poses, sculpted bodies, sacred images. Except here, the paintings aren't going to stay still. They unfold, unravel, escape. Little by little, the scene transforms into an epic: medieval pop, songs, discussions about bodies, dances that glide from ritual to concert. With historian Clovis Maillet, the Foulles collective searches for the queer flaws in History: those that allow other narratives, other identities, other ways of existing to pass through. When the Middle Ages cracks, everything we thought was fixed begins to move. --- The Foulles collective is the encounter between five friends, dancers who play on the homonyms of their name, the figure of the idiot, a lot of energy and practices. In their work, their most diverse passions intersect helter-skelter and without hierarchy: pop music, repetitive comedy, the Middle Ages but also fire sticks, sewing, opera, clothes, breakdancing, unusual haircuts or miniature and disproportionately large objects. To date, the collective has created four pieces: Song for four people and one bench (2019), A prayer before the crack of dawn (2020), Medieval Crack (2022) and Le cerveau mou de l’existence (2024).
