Animatou Festival, the best of contemporary animation
ANIMATOU invites young and old to discover the best of contemporary animation, notably through a rich program of recent short films from around the world. The various competitive sections (international, Swiss, documentary, experimental, from 14 years old) highlight the diversity and creativity of the genre, with a Public Prize awarded by spectators during the Swiss competition. For young audiences, the festival offers dedicated sessions, such as the highly anticipated Best of Annecy, feature films and workshops to awaken their imagination. Between carte blanche events by big names in the sector, retrospectives, masterclasses, meetings and festive moments, ANIMATOU celebrates animation in all its forms, for families, enthusiasts, professionals and future talents. The full program will be unveiled on Thursday, September 17, 2026 on the festival's website. Several cultural venues will host the festival: the Alhambra, the Blue cinéma, the Bibliothèque municipale de la Cité, the Musée d'Ethnographie de Genève, the Campus de la HEAD Genève, the institut Florimont, the Salle communale de Satigny, the cinéma Spoutnik, the cinémas du Grütli, the cinéma Bio, the Musée de Carouge and the Arcade du Centre d'Art Contemporain de Genève. Private sessions are also organized in collaboration with the Service des Ecoles de Genève, the Maison de l'enfant et de l'Adolescent des HUG (MEA), the Scala and Nord-Sud cinemas.
